Clarity over complexity. Discipline over speculation.

Watch the world. Research the edge. Prove it before it trades.

Aurelia Spes takes a trading idea through its whole journey in one place: World Markets shows the markets and the world's news on one screen, every figure with its source and age; the Research Floor's AI agents find, test and filter strategies; a compliance check reads your code against UK rules and gives a RED, YELLOW or GREEN verdict with the fixes; Backtest Lab stress-tests the idea and walks it forward through time; Forward Testing proves it on live signals with no money at risk; and Speak Financially explains the lot, with the maths shown. § 01 · The end-to-end journey

From an idea to a strategy you can stand behind

Six steps, in the order a careful trader takes them. Each tool hands its result to the next, so nothing is checked in isolation.

01

Understand the market

Ask Speak Financially what is moving the instrument you trade, what the data says, and which release or decision would change the picture. Every fact carries its source and its date.

02

Backtest the idea

In Backtest Lab, with the risk limits a live account would carry: a stop on every position, a daily loss cap, a drawdown kill switch, leverage inside the FCA cap for your client type and instrument.

03

Walk it forward

Optimise on an in-sample window, verify on the out-of-sample window that follows, step forward. Walk-forward efficiency under 50% is the signature of curve fitting, and the Lab says so.

04

Take the code

On every plan, a completed backtest hands you a downloadable snippet, Python, Pine Script or C# (cTrader cBot), with exactly the settings you tested and the risk layer built in.

05

Check it for compliance

The same code goes through the four pillars. RED, YELLOW or GREEN, each finding naming its rule, each fix in the language you submitted. The report is linked to the backtest it came from.

06

Forward test before you deploy

Point your platform's alerts at a webhook that belongs to your test alone. Aurelia Spes paper-trades every signal and compares the live result with the backtest. When they drift apart, you have learned it for free.

The same journey, whoever you are

Five ways people actually use it, with the screens each one touches. No code is needed to start; code is welcome when you have it.

Trades by hand, no code

You read the market and place your own orders.

  1. Speak Financially: what moved your instrument today, with sources and the maths shown
  2. Backtest Lab, Parameters mode: test the idea as a template with a stop, a daily loss cap and a kill switch
  3. Forward test it from a TradingView alert before any money moves

Runs a bot in Python, Pine or MQL

Your strategy is code on a platform or a VPS.

  1. Compliance Check in your own language: RED, YELLOW or GREEN with the fix snippets
  2. Backtest Lab, My code mode: paste it, the Lab reads it (never runs it) and maps it to a template, then walks it forward
  3. Download the code with the risk layer built in, then forward test on live signals

Quant or researcher

You care about out-of-sample evidence, not one lucky curve.

  1. Your own CSV or a calibrated index series in Backtest Lab
  2. Walk-forward with a parameter grid: efficiency, profitable windows, parameter stability, window by window
  3. Speak Financially explains the Sharpe ratio on your trade count and what to test next

Prop desk or fund

Several people, one set of rules, a file to keep.

  1. A business plan with up to 5 seats and pooled credits; professional-client or eligible-counterparty leverage settings
  2. Every check, backtest and forward test kept under Past reports, visible to the desk
  3. Evidence-pack PDFs with checksums, the rule-set version and who ran it

Broker or compliance officer

You review other people's strategies before they go live.

  1. B2B mode: a client's code against the four pillars, each finding naming its FCA or UK MAR rule
  2. Index, FX, crypto, commodity and equity leverage caps applied by client category
  3. The report linked to the backtest it came from, exported for the file
§ 02 · Compliance: try the verdicts

Four strategies. One verdict scale.

Pick a strategy and reveal its report. Each one is a recorded run of the terminal's built-in rule scanner on that exact code, reproduced as it came out. In the live terminal, the full analysis also has an AI model read what your code does.

How to read a verdict

GREEN: every required pillar passes: the automated checks found no issues. Three pillars are required for retail and professional clients and four for firms; market abuse is reported for everyone and required for firms. Whether your whole operation is compliant is a wider question than one file. YELLOW: legal, but not recommended. The controls the rules require are there, and the strategy carries a high risk (martingale sizing, averaging down, no drawdown limit) that would show in a backtest. The report names the risk and the backtest column where it appears. RED: a basic control is missing, or the code does something the rules don't allow: a layering pattern, a credential in the source, or, for a retail client, a crypto derivative. Don't deploy it.

Press Reveal the report to see how the engine scored this strategy.

These are recorded examples, so nothing you do on this page is analysed. A verdict is software output about the controls present in submitted code. It isn't regulatory approval, certification or advice, and it doesn't move any compliance obligation away from you.

§ 03 · The four pillars

Every finding names the rule it comes from

A score you can't question is a score you can't learn from. Each pillar names the rules behind it, so you can disagree with the reasoning, not just the colour.

FCA rules

Leverage caps by client category and asset class, the ban on selling crypto derivatives to retail clients, pre-trade limits, order records kept for at least five years, and testing before live use.

COBS 22.5COBS 22.6RTS 6 Art.15SYSC 9.1

Market abuse

Layering, spoofing, wash trades, front-running and quote stuffing patterns, order-to-trade ratio management, and timestamps you can rely on.

UK MAR Art.12MAR 7A

Risk management

Stop losses, a maximum position size, volatility-aware sizing, drawdown control, a daily loss cap and concentration limits: present, and actually used when orders are placed.

SYSC 7RTS 6 Art.15

Kill switch

An emergency halt, a hard maximum-loss stop, a losing-streak breaker, flattening positions on halt, going risk-off when the connection drops, and safe reconnection: the kill functionality RTS 6 Article 12 sets out for firms.

RTS 6 Art.12MAR 7A.3
§ 04 · Backtest Lab

A backtester that tries to talk you out of it

The simulation is deliberately pessimistic, because a backtest that flatters you is worse than no backtest at all. Backtest Lab now runs two kinds of test on the same strategy and data, and hands you the code when it is done.

Parameters, or your own code

A toggle at the top of the Lab. Parameters: pick a template (moving-average crossovers, RSI reversion, Donchian breakout, momentum, MACD, Bollinger bands, buy and hold) and set its numbers. My code: paste the strategy you actually run, in Python, Pine Script, MQL or C#. The Lab reads it, never runs it, maps it to the closest template with the periods, thresholds, stops and leverage it finds, tells you what it recognised and what it could not, and then backtests, walk-forwards or forward-tests that. The run says it came from your code.

Walk-forward testing

The series is cut into consecutive windows. Parameters are optimised on each in-sample stretch, then run unchanged on the out-of-sample stretch that follows; the out-of-sample results are chained into one curve the strategy never had the chance to fit. You get walk-forward efficiency (out-of-sample over in-sample return), the share of profitable windows, how much the winning parameters moved, and a RED, YELLOW or GREEN rating with the reasons.

Index instruments

Synthetic series calibrated to the FTSE 100, S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, DAX 40, Nikkei 225 and FTSE 250, an overnight-gap stress test, and the right leverage cap applied automatically: 20:1 for major indices and 10:1 for the rest, as COBS 22.5 sets for retail clients.

Downloadable code, on completion

On every plan, the moment a backtest completes you can download the strategy you tested as a Python, Pine Script or C# (cTrader cBot) file, with the parameters and the risk limits you set built in. Download it, paper trade it, or send it straight to the compliance check.

No look-ahead, costs on every fill

A signal from bar i fills at the open of bar i+1. Fees and slippage are charged on both sides of every trade. A daily loss cap, a maximum drawdown and a losing-streak breaker close the position and stop the run, the way kill functionality (RTS 6 Art.12) is expected to work in a live system.

Your data, official prices or a vendor's

Upload your own CSV from any broker or data vendor, use the synthetic series, test on real daily prices at no cost (seven currency pairs from the ECB's reference rates; WTI and Brent crude from the US Energy Information Administration), or, once the owner has connected a market-data vendor, fetch real daily prices by symbol.

Eight templates

SMA crossover · EMA crossover · RSI mean reversion · Donchian breakout · Momentum (rate of change) · MACD trend · Bollinger band reversion · buy-and-hold benchmark. Each parameter can be searched over a grid in a walk-forward test.

Fifteen synthetic series, nine real ones, or your own CSV

Six index series and an index gap-crash test · trending equity · sideways, choppy equity · major FX pair · high-volatility crypto · sustained drawdown · gap-crash stress test · gold · crude oil. Synthetic and repeatable: the same series always gives the same result. Real, one price a day: EUR/USD, GBP/USD, USD/JPY, USD/CHF, AUD/USD, USD/CAD and EUR/GBP from the ECB; WTI and Brent crude from the US EIA.

Metrics

Total return, CAGR, maximum drawdown, Sharpe, Sortino, Calmar, win rate, profit factor, expectancy, time in the market, best and worst trade; and for walk-forward runs, efficiency, profitable windows and parameter stability.

Simulated results

A backtest applies today's rules to past or synthetic prices and can't account for liquidity, borrowing costs, funding, partial fills or outages. Simulated and past performance is not a reliable indicator of future results. Nothing in Backtest Lab is a forecast or investment advice, and trading can lose you money.

§ 05 · Forward Testing

The safety check between a backtest and a live account

A backtest shows what a strategy did on the past it was built on. A forward test shows what it does on data it has never seen, before any money is at risk. Aurelia Spes runs forward tests two ways.

1 · Automatic forward test (webhook)

Your platform sends the signals; we keep the paper book

Start a test and get a webhook URL that belongs to it alone. In TradingView, or any bot that can post JSON, point each alert at that URL. Aurelia Spes books the paper trade at the signal's price, applies the stop, the daily loss cap and the drawdown kill switch on every price it sees, and shows the running result beside the backtest it came from. When the live result drifts away from the backtest, you have your answer.

  • One secret token per test, stored only as a hash and rotatable at any time
  • Token in the URL, in the message, or an HMAC signature for platforms that can sign
  • Optional allow-list of TradingView's published alert addresses
  • Paper only: nothing is sent to a broker, and no exchange or broker API key is ever asked for
  • Other tracking platforms can receive the same alert in parallel

TradingView sends webhooks on its paid plans.

2 · Walk-forward testing (historical)

Optimise in-sample, verify out-of-sample, step forward

The historical series is split into consecutive windows. The strategy is optimised on an in-sample window, then tested and verified on the out-of-sample window that follows, and the process rolls forward through the data. Because every reported result comes from data the parameters never saw, it is an effective guard against overfitting, and it runs in Backtest Lab in seconds rather than weeks.

  • Rolling or anchored in-sample windows
  • Optimise for Sharpe, return, Calmar or profit factor over a parameter grid
  • Walk-forward efficiency, profitable-window share and parameter stability
  • The chained out-of-sample equity curve, window by window

Each forward test uses one forward-test credit; each walk-forward run uses one Backtest Lab credit.

§ 06 · Speak Financially

An analyst, a quant and a news desk, in one conversation

Speak Financially is the financial assistant inside Aurelia Spes. Ask it about a market, a data release, a central-bank decision, a rule, or your own backtest. It reads live news and market data from a list of reputable sources, cites what it used, writes the formula out and works the number, and takes you through the answer step by step.

Market analyst

What moved, when, and why, with the driver separated from the speculation. What to watch next: the data point, event or level that would change the picture.

Quantitative mathematician

Returns, volatility, drawdown, Sharpe, correlation, expected value, position sizing, probability: the formula typeset and worked exactly with your numbers, with a chart where it helps. Attach a PDF, a CSV, a chart screenshot, or your own backtest, walk-forward or forward test, and it reasons about those.

Financial news desk

Live search across Bloomberg, CNBC, Yahoo Finance, the exchanges, the FCA, the Bank of England, the ONS and other primary sources. Every fact dated and cited; a paywalled source is named as one.

What it will not do

It does not give personal investment advice and never tells you to buy, sell or hold a specific instrument. It refuses to help with insider dealing, market manipulation or any other unlawful activity, and says why. It never asks for passwords, keys or account numbers. Its answers are automated, can be wrong, and are not investment, legal or tax advice. Aurelia Spes Limited is not authorised or regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.

Speak Financially · the product filmRecorded in the terminal · an answer with the sources cited and the maths worked
speak financially · how an answer is laid out

You ask about a market, a release, a rule or your own result.

  1. Situation — what happened and when, per the sources, with dates.
  2. What the data says — the numbers, with units.
  3. The maths — the formula written out, worked with your figures. Sharpe = (mean daily return − daily risk-free) / daily std × √252
  4. What to watch — the next data point, event or level that would change the picture.
  5. Risks — what could make this wrong.
  6. Sources — every source it drew on, each one a link you can open.

This is the structure of an answer, not a recording of one. Allowance: as many messages as your plan has credits (2 on Solo Trader, 4 on Professional, 6 on Institutional; 4, 6 and 6 on the business plans), refilled 48 hours after they run out, with credits to top up at £10 a message ex VAT; accounts without a plan get one free message. § 07 · World Markets

The world's markets, on one screen

Open the terminal and the world is there: a globe of markets coloured by the day's move, a board of equities, currencies, rates, commodities and crypto, the world's news tagged by region and type, and the latest releases from the central banks, updating while the screen is open, each at its source’s own pace: ECB reference rates and US yields once a day, crypto every few minutes, crude oil spot prices from the US Energy Information Administration once a day (published weekly), equities and other commodities from the market-data feed (delayed on free data plans). Until that feed is connected, stock indices, gold, oil futures and the other commodities, and volatility come from a dated desk snapshot: the figures as published by named public market briefings, each row naming its source, linking to it and giving its time of quote. The globe beside this shows that snapshot now.

Every figure carries its source

ECB reference rates, the US Treasury's own yield curve, the US EIA's crude oil spot prices, official central-bank and regulator feeds, figures from named public market briefings (with the link), and a market-data feed for equities and commodities. Each price shows where it came from and how old it is; when two sources disagree, the gap is flagged on the board, never hidden.

News you can weigh

World news tagged by region, type and the markets it touches. Each story says how many outlets carry it, or that it comes from the source itself: a central bank, a regulator, a ministry. Headline and link only, always.

Ask the analyst about the screen

Speak Financially reads the same live figures, so "why did Brent move today, in sterling?" is answered from what is in front of you, sources and times cited, maths shown.

World Markets is free with every account: no plan, no card and no time limit. Asking Speak Financially about the screen uses one of its messages. The Research Floor has one 24-hour free preview, then comes with Professional and above (Solo Trader includes one trial run).

§ 08 · Research Floor

Seven agents. One honest answer: does the idea survive?

The internet is full of trading ideas that look brilliant on the chart they were drawn on. The Research Floor is a production line that treats every idea the same way: read it, turn it into a testable recipe, test every variant twice, and record exactly why the failures failed.

01 · Scout → 02 · Reader

The Scout collects the sources: research papers, articles, or anything you paste in or add, from single files to whole folders (PDF papers, Word, PowerPoint, web pages, text, strategy code), images, videos and recordings. The Reader analyses each one and pulls out the actual rules: entry, exit, stop, leverage, risk.

03 · Recipe-maker → 04 · Tester

The Recipe-maker builds every variant, adding the kill switch when the source forgot one. The Tester backtests each variant on the history it could have been fitted to, then on history it never saw.

05 · Sieve → 06 · Compliance officer

The Sieve drops what fails and writes down which rule it broke. The Compliance officer marks each recipe RED, YELLOW or GREEN against the same UK rules as the Compliance Check.

07 · Clerk

The Clerk writes every step to a tamper-evident logbook, each line chained to the one before it, which you can verify with one click: the record an audit or an endorsing body can check.

Survivors get a walk-forward test in Backtest Lab and then wait for you: approve one and it goes to Forward Testing, on paper, never to a broker. Most ideas do not survive. That is the point.

Each run uses one Research Floor credit. Research results are tests on past prices, not predictions or advice. FX and crude-oil ideas are tested on real daily prices (the ECB's reference rates, the US EIA's spot prices); index, gold and crypto ideas on synthetic prices until a market-data vendor is connected.

§ 11 · About

What Aurelia Spes actually does

Whether an algorithm behaves safely, whether it survives data it has never seen, and whether you understand the market it trades are three different questions. Most tools answer one. Aurelia Spes puts all three in the same place, and treats them as equals.

Compliance Check. Paste a strategy: Python, MQL, Pine Script, C#, pseudocode. The terminal reads it against the rules that apply to your client category and instrument, because a retail index strategy asking for 30:1 leverage and a professional client asking for the same thing aren't the same finding. It returns a verdict, a score out of 100 for each pillar, the specific issues, and suggested code to fix them.

Backtest Lab. Take the same idea through a price series built to break it, walk it forward through time to see whether the edge survives out of sample, download the code with the risk controls built in, and forward test it on live signals before a penny is at risk.

Speak Financially. An assistant that thinks like an analyst, calculates like a quant and reports like a news desk, so the decisions you make around the strategy are as disciplined as the strategy itself.

Aurelia Spes, the Golden Hope. Aurelia is golden, spes is hope: the hope that comes from discipline, not from speculation. We hold to one principle: clarity over complexity, discipline over speculation.

Who it's built for
  • Individual algorithmic traders: UK market abuse rules apply to you directly, and the firm-level controls in the other pillars are the standard brokers expect
  • Traders your broker has categorised as professional clients, where different leverage rules apply
  • Discretionary traders who want the market explained with its sources and its arithmetic, not a tip
  • Brokers and regulated firms checking client strategies before granting API access
  • Prop firms and hedge funds documenting pre-deployment control checks and out-of-sample evidence
  • High-frequency and market-making desks facing order-to-trade ratio and layering scrutiny

Out of credits? Wait, top up or move up

When a pool of plan credits runs out it refills in full 48 hours later (the Research Floor 7 days after its last run); the other pools are not affected. To keep going before then, subscribers can top up with extra credits: a one-off payment, excluding VAT. One extra credit pays for one compliance check, backtest, code export, forward test, Speak Financially message or Research Floor run: the one it was bought for. Extra credits never expire and are used only after your plan credits, so you never pay twice for the same test. Or move up a plan, straight away. Extra credits cannot be bought without a plan.

  • Extra credits, for subscribers: £10 each excluding VAT, for a compliance check, a backtest, a code export or a forward test
  • Choose any number from 1 to 100 in the web app; for example 2 for £20 · 5 for £50 · 10 for £100 · 20 for £200
  • Research Floor runs, Professional and above and every business plan: £50 a run excluding VAT, 2 for £100, up to 20 at a time; not sold on Solo Trader
  • In the iPhone and Android apps, one credit at a time, at the store’s price
  • Speak Financially credits, for subscribers: £10 a message excluding VAT, never expire, used after your plan's own messages, buy as often as you like
All prices exclude VAT. No VAT is charged at present because Aurelia Spes Limited is not VAT registered; if that changes, VAT will be added at checkout on top of the price shown. Your first check is free No cancellation fee on any plan Each credit pool refills 48 hours after it runs out (the Research Floor weekly) Personal plans: one person, not transferable Business plans: 5 seats per organisation Features marked SOON aren't available yet and aren't sold as live Yearly plans are paid upfront for 12 months
What you're buying

A licence to use compliance-checking, backtesting, forward-testing and financial-assistant software. You're not buying regulatory approval, an opinion from a qualified compliance professional, investment advice or a trading service. Aurelia Spes Limited holds no client money and executes no orders.

§ 14 · Cancelling & refunds

Cancel whenever you like

There's no cancellation fee on any plan. Cancelling stops the next payment.

If you're a consumer, you can cancel a new subscription within 14 days of buying it and get a refund. Because the service starts straight away when you ask for it, we may deduct an amount for the part you used before cancelling. To use this right, email Founder@aureliaspes.com within the 14 days.

How to cancel

In the terminal: Account → Cancel subscription, or Manage billing. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you've paid for and isn't renewed. You don't need to give a reason.

§ 16 · Questions & contact
QDoes a GREEN verdict mean I'm compliant?

No. It means the checks found the controls they look for in the code you submitted. Compliance is a property of your whole operation (governance, records, oversight, the people responsible), not of one file. Treat GREEN as “this code isn't the thing standing in your way”.

QDo I need to write code?

Only for the compliance check, which reads the code of an automated strategy. Everything else works without it. Backtest Lab runs eight built-in strategies (moving-average and EMA crossovers, RSI mean reversion, breakout, momentum, MACD, Bollinger bands and buy-and-hold) on index, FX, crypto and stress-test series, with the risk limits you set. Forward testing paper-trades signals sent from a TradingView alert, so a strategy or indicator you already use on TradingView can be followed without writing a line. Speak Financially is for any trader.

QAre you FCA-authorised?

No. Aurelia Spes Limited is not authorised or regulated by the FCA. We sell analysis software and don't carry on any regulated activity. When the site names a rule, it's naming published regulatory material that the checks are based on, not claiming any link with the regulator.

QIs World Markets free, and can I see the Research Floor before paying?

World Markets is free with every account, with no plan, no card and no time limit: the markets board, the world’s news and the central banks’ releases. Asking Speak Financially about the screen uses one of its messages. The Research Floor has one 24-hour free preview, starting the first time you open it, no card needed; after it, it comes with Professional and above (Solo Trader includes one trial run). Your free credit is separate and stays yours either way.

QIs there an API?

Yes. Every account with a confirmed email address has its own personal API key, created and rotated from Your account, to connect your broker platform or your own code. Your scripts and platform add-ons can run checks, backtests and Research Floor passes and read your results and the World Markets data, under the same credits as the app. A key can never sign in as you, change payments or touch your team; those always need the person.

QIs there a free trial?

Your first check is free once you've confirmed your email, no card needed, and it pays for a compliance check, a backtest, a forward test or a Research Floor run (code export needs a plan). It's per person, not per account: a second account on the same inbox shares it. You can also try Speak Financially with one free message. After that, choose a plan. Consumers also have a 14-day right to cancel a new subscription or a top-up (see § 14).

QHow do credits work?

Every plan has a separate pool for each feature. Compliance-check credits pay for compliance checks; Backtest Lab credits pay for backtests and walk-forward runs; code-export credits for turning a backtest into code; forward-test credits for starting a forward test; Speak Financially has its own messages. Solo Trader has 2 of each, Professional 4, Institutional 6, Broker Lite 4, Prime / Hedge Fund 6, HFT Enterprise 6. When a pool runs out it refills in full 48 hours later, not on a fixed day, and the other pools are untouched; unused plan credits don't roll over. The Research Floor uses one Research Floor credit a run: one trial run on Solo Trader, 2 runs a week on Professional and Broker Lite, and 3 a week on Institutional, Prime / Hedge Fund and HFT Enterprise, refilled 7 days after the last run. To keep going before then, subscribers can top up with extra credits (£10 each for a compliance check, backtest, code export, forward test or Speak Financially message, up to 100 at a time in the web app, and £50 a Research Floor run on Professional and above, up to 20 at a time, excluding VAT, as many as you need) or move up a plan. If you move up part-way through, the credits you have already used in that 48 hours still count: moving up gives you the difference straight away.

QAre prices inclusive of VAT?

No. All prices on this site and in the terminal are exclusive of VAT. Where VAT applies it is added at checkout, on top of the price shown, and itemised on your invoice. Aurelia Spes Limited is not VAT registered at present, so no VAT is charged today; if that changes, VAT will be added at checkout and your invoice will show it. In the iPhone and Android apps the store sets and shows its own prices.

QWhat is Speak Financially, and how is it metered?

Speak Financially is the financial assistant inside the terminal: a market analyst, a quantitative mathematician and a news desk in one. It reads live news and market data through a web search restricted to reputable financial, regulatory and statistical sources (Bloomberg, CNBC, the exchanges, the FCA, the Bank of England, the ONS and others), cites every fact with its date, shows the formula and works the number, and walks you through the answer step by step. It is metered in messages, as many as the plan has credits: Solo Trader 2 (baseline), Professional and Broker Lite 4 (elevated), Institutional, Prime / Hedge Fund and HFT Enterprise 6 (priority), refilled 48 hours after they run out and pooled across a firm's seats; a higher plan also gets more live searches per answer. Without a plan you get one free message. The counter is on the screen; when the messages run out you can wait for the refill, move up a plan or, as a subscriber, buy Speak Financially credits (£10 a message ex VAT, as often as you like), which never expire and are used only after the plan's own. It never gives personal investment advice, never recommends a specific trade, and refuses to help with market abuse. Its answers can be wrong; check the sources it gives you.

QHow does forward testing work?

Two ways. Automatic (webhook): start a test in the terminal and you get a URL that belongs to it alone, with a secret token. Point your TradingView alerts (webhooks need a paid TradingView plan) or your own bot at it; each JSON signal (buy, sell or close, with the price) becomes a paper trade, with your stop, daily loss cap and drawdown kill switch applied on every price we see, and the running result is compared with the backtest it came from. Nothing is sent to a broker and no exchange or broker API key is ever asked for. Walk-forward (historical): in Backtest Lab, the series is split into consecutive windows; parameters are optimised in-sample and verified on the out-of-sample window that follows, stepping forward through the data. Each forward test uses one forward-test credit, and each walk-forward run one Backtest Lab credit.

QCan I backtest my own code?

Yes, through the My code switch in Backtest Lab. Paste the strategy you run (Python, Pine Script, MQL, C#, JavaScript) and the Lab reads it: the indicators and their periods, the thresholds, whether it goes short, the stop, the loss caps, the leverage and the instrument. It maps those onto the closest template, shows you exactly what it recognised with the line it came from, and what it could not, and then runs that template as a backtest, a walk-forward test or a forward test. Your code is never executed on our servers, for your security and ours: the simulation is of the template with your settings, not of your order handling or sizing logic, and the result says so.

QAre my checks and tests saved?

Automatically, every time. Compliance checks, backtests, walk-forward runs and forward tests are kept on your account the moment they run and listed together under Past reports in the terminal, where you can reopen any of them, download the evidence pack or the code, and run a compliance check on a backtest. Speak Financially conversations are kept in their own list inside Speak Financially. Deleting your account deletes all of it.

QWhy was I signed out?

The terminal signs you out after 20 minutes without any activity, and the server refuses a session that has sat unused for as long, whichever device it came from. It is a security measure for a tool that holds your strategies: a screen left open on a shared desk cannot be used by the next person. Sign in again and everything is where you left it; nothing in progress is lost on the server side, because every run is saved when it completes.

QCan I turn a backtest into code?

Yes, on every plan, Solo Trader and the business plans included. The moment a backtest completes, the strategy you tested is available as a downloadable file, with exactly the parameters and risk limits you set, in Python, Pine Script (TradingView) or C# (cTrader cBot). Every file carries the same risk layer: a stop on every order, loss limits that close the position and keep trading halted until you re-arm it, a leverage cap, order-rate limits, error handling and an audit log. Turning a run into code in a language uses one code-export credit, and the same file again is free; Check compliance on it uses one compliance-check credit, and the report is linked to the backtest. Settings that could never protect anything (no stop, a 100% drawdown limit) or that would be prohibited for a retail client (a crypto derivative) are refused with the setting to change. Generated code is a starting point you paper trade first: it isn't investment advice, and it isn't a statement that the strategy is lawful, compliant or suitable.

QWhich instruments and asset classes are covered?

Equities and ETFs, indices (cash CFDs, index futures and index ETFs), FX, futures, cryptoassets, bonds and commodities. The compliance check recognises the instrument your code names where it can (UK100, US500, ES, NQ, FDAX and their micro contracts, among many others) and applies the retail leverage cap for it: 20:1 for a major index, 10:1 for a non-major one, 30:1 for a major currency pair, 5:1 for a share, and no leverage at all on crypto for retail clients. Backtest Lab has calibrated synthetic series for six indices and accepts your own data for anything.

QIs my strategy code safe?

We use your code only to produce your report, and we keep the report, not the code. Reports are visible only to you: asking for someone else's report gets the same “not found” answer as asking for one that doesn't exist. The one exception is a firm's team, and only if you accept an invitation to it: the plan owner can then see the checks you run while you are a member, never the ones from before you joined or after you leave. Don't paste live API keys or passwords. The checker flags hard-coded credentials, but the safest key is one that never leaves your machine.

QWhich languages can I check?

Python, MQL4 and MQL5 (MetaTrader), Pine Script (TradingView) and C# (cTrader, NinjaTrader) are read directly: the checks know what a stop loss, a kill switch and a lot-sizing function look like in each of them, and the suggested fixes come back in the language you submitted. Anything else is analysed too: the report says which language it read, so you can see what it assumed.

QCan I check a project of several files?

Yes. Drag a whole folder onto the terminal in your browser, or attach up to 12 files, and they are checked as one strategy, so a control in your risk module counts for the file that calls it. From a folder, dependency and build folders are left out, files that look like keys or secrets stay on your computer, and the files most likely to hold trading and risk logic are chosen first; you're told what was left out and why. The limit is 60,000 characters of code in total, and the report lists the files it read.

QHow does the analysis work?

The full analysis uses an AI model (Anthropic's Claude) to read what your code does. A built-in rule scanner matches control patterns in the code (stop losses, sizing, kill switches, audit logs) and steps in if the AI is unavailable. Either way, the RED / YELLOW / GREEN rules are enforced on our server afterwards, and the report says which engine produced it. Your code is never run.

QHow accurate is it?

We measure it on strategies the checks have never seen, written and labelled by independent reviewers who never saw the rules. On the latest such test (60 verdicts, October 2026) the rule-based scan agreed with the reviewers on 80% of verdicts; most of its misses were on the cautious side. The AI engine has not been measured that way yet, so we don't quote a figure for it. Every report says it can make mistakes. Check each finding against your own code.

QCan a comment in my code change the verdict?

It shouldn't. Your code is treated as data to analyse, never as instructions, and the verdict rules are enforced on our server afterwards, so a comment claiming a control exists doesn't put one there. Automated tests check this. The same rule applies to Speak Financially: a web page it reads is data, never instructions. But an AI model can still be misled in ways nobody has thought of yet, which is one reason the rule scanner cross-checks every AI report and every result says it can make mistakes.

QWhen will the apps be available?

The iPhone, Android and desktop apps are built but not released yet. Join the list in § 12 and we'll email you when each one is out. The web terminal works on phones in the meantime.

QCan my firm pay by invoice rather than card?

Yes, on Institutional, Prime / Hedge Fund and HFT Enterprise. Ask for an invoice in the terminal under Your account: give us the company name, VAT number, purchase-order reference and the number of seats, and we email an itemised invoice with our bank details and 14 days to pay. Your plan starts the day the payment clears. On every plan, paying by card also produces a proper itemised invoice: checkout asks for your billing address and VAT number, and business plans ask for the company name and PO number so they print on the invoice and on every renewal. Invoices show the ex-VAT price and any VAT separately.

QCan my team share one plan without sharing a password?

Every business plan (Broker Lite, Prime / Hedge Fund, HFT Enterprise) comes with 5 seats per organisation, counting the person who owns the plan, and no more. Invite a colleague by email in Your team; they create their own account with that address and accept the invitation, with their own password. The plan's credits, the assistant's messages and the top-ups the owner buys are pooled, and the person who owns the plan can see every check the desk has run and who ran it, which is the record the firm has to keep, and is written into our Privacy Policy. Personal plans (Solo Trader, Professional, Institutional) are for one person and cannot be transferred or shared.

QDo you send a newsletter?

Occasionally: product news and release notes. It is opt-in: tick the box when you sign up or switch it on in Your account, and every issue carries a one-click unsubscribe. We never share the list.

QWhat does an auditor get?

Every check produces an evidence record you can download as a PDF: the report reference, the strategy name, when it ran and who ran it, the client categorisation and asset class, the language and the files read, a SHA-256 checksum of the code that was submitted, the rule-set version that produced the verdict, the engine and model used, a SHA-256 checksum of the report itself, and the verdict rules that were applied. That answers “which version of your checks produced this?” years later. The report checksum is computed from the report as stored, so the copy in your file can be shown to be the copy that was issued.

QDo you offer self-hosting or a security review?

Self-hosted deployment is on our roadmap and marked SOON on the plans. For a data processing agreement or a security review, use the form and tell us what you need.

QWho can use it?

Anyone aged 18 or over. The checks are built around UK rules, so they're most useful for strategies traded through UK-regulated brokers. The website and the terminal are in English.
